Professional Verification Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-21
The ZMail Verified badge signals that a professional's identity and stated profession have been reviewed by our verification team. It is not an endorsement of quality, price, or outcomes.
Verification levels
- Email verified: the account email is confirmed. Granted automatically at signup — no badge shown.
- ID verified: a government-issued photo ID was reviewed and matched to a live selfie/liveness capture.
- Professional verified: ID verified and credentials for the stated profession were reviewed (registration number, certificate, or comparable proof).
Only Professional verified accounts appear in the public directory and can submit marketplace proposals.
Evidence we may ask for
- Government photo ID (PAN, Aadhaar, Passport, Driving Licence, Voter ID).
- A liveness selfie captured through our KYC flow.
- Profession-specific proof, for example:
- Registration certificate or council/bar/BAR-style number.
- Degree or diploma from an accredited institution.
- A letter of employment or engagement, where relevant.
How your KYC data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy and Data Retention Policy. KYC documents are stored in a private bucket with row-level access and are not shared with other users.
Review SLA
We target a first-response within 3 business days of a complete submission. Complex cases may take longer; you'll see the current stage in Settings → Verification.
How the badge is shown
- Inside zmail.foo: next to the display name on profile cards, in mail headers, and on directory results.
- On emails sent to external services: a signed identity block that recipients can click through to a public verification page.
- On profile pages at profile.zmail.foo/<handle>: an interactive verified-identity dialog.
Revocation
We may revoke the badge and/or the account when:
- Submitted evidence is later found to be forged, expired, or belonging to another person.
- The user violates the Acceptable Use Policy or Marketplace Terms.
- A regulator or court directs us to remove the listing.
- The account is inactive for an extended period.
Appeals
If your verification is denied or revoked, you can appeal from Settings → Verification, or file a grievance at /grievance. Appeals are answered within 15 days as required by IT Rules 2021.
What verification is not
- Not a certification of professional skill, price, or outcome.
- Not a warranty or endorsement by zmail.foo.
- Not a licence to practise — you remain responsible for holding valid licences under Indian law.
This page is maintained by the operators of zmail.foo. It reflects app-visible controls and stated practices — not an independent certification. For questions, contact us via the address in Settings.
