DMCA & Copyright Complaint Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-21

zmail.foo respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content hosted on the platform infringes your copyright, use this process. This policy also operates as our notice mechanism under IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(1)(d).

Designated agent

Send notices to grievance@zmail.foo with the subject line "Copyright takedown notice". Physical mail can be sent to the address published in Contact.

What your notice must contain

To be actionable, a notice must include:

  • Your name, address, phone number, and email.
  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  • The URL or identifier of the allegedly infringing content on zmail.foo.
  • A statement, in good faith, that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Incomplete notices will be returned with a request for the missing information.

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge your notice within 36 hours (per IT Rules 2021).
  2. We review and, if the notice appears valid, remove or disable access to the content.
  3. We notify the affected user with a copy of your notice (redacting your contact details on request).

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe the notice was mistaken or you have permission to use the material, you may file a counter-notice to grievance@zmail.foo including:

  • Identification of the removed content and its previous location.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, address, phone number, email, and physical or electronic signature.
  • Consent to jurisdiction of Indian courts where you reside, or of the appropriate court if you reside outside India.

We will forward the counter-notice to the original complainant. If they do not initiate legal action within a reasonable period, we may restore the content.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that receive multiple valid takedown notices will be suspended and, on further violations, terminated.

Misuse

Filing a knowingly false notice is a serious matter and may result in legal liability under applicable law.
